Wet Land Dry Land
This multi node design commission was created in response to the community requesting artworks that related to the natural environment around Canada Bay. The council area houses the river’s lungs being the mangrove trees where the salt water finishes and becomes suburbia and open grass land.
Wet Land Dry Land references the birds of the water ways and the grass land environment. The precinct was part of a major upgrade of a public space and now has design elements on a ping pong table, water bubbler, shade cloth and electronic switchboard.

Dear Edith
Paying homage to the nearby Walker Estates, Dear Eadith is a thank you letter to the late Dame Eadith Walker who nurtured the gardens of Yaralla and Rivendell. Eadith travelled broadly, bringing back rare and exotic plant species to grow in her garden. The story is fascinating and the estates are still open to the public overlooking the Parramatta River.

My Little Piece Of Home
This street activation was designed in collaboration with local traders and the children from the South Cheltenham Public School. The artwork is a game where fence posts are in pairs spread throughout the shopping precinct. Each pair represents the household of the children who took part in the workshops. The game is to find the matching pairs and on each post is the national flower of the country of origin of each parent. In addition to the pavement design are 4 painted telegraph poles that house the native and exotic plants of the household gardens.

Living Portrait
Working with artist David Wells and fabric artist Catherine O’Leary, the Living Portrait was a community interaction set up in the foyer of the Braybrook Community Hub. Visitors would be waylaid by either David or myself and encouraged to have a chat and get dressed up. In most cases we would dress them in a theme related to the stories they would tell us of their past.
The red thread linking the portraits symbolises the connectedness of community.

Out Of The Woods
Developed over 6 months through weekly art workshops with mental illness youth from EACH, this mural was created by addressing each of the youth’s perception of self. We did this by identifying character traits found in animals that each participant connected to. The animals were then merged together to create these fantastical beings.

The signage shows aspects of the Reserve and how it relates to indigenous history and use of the land, the remains of a POW camp and the endangered species that reside in the park. Visitors can read a “clue” at the sitting circle and then find the corresponding “treasure panel” throughout the park.
